Portrait of Angela - Photo/Art

The portrait above (both the image on the Metamorphosis Fundraiser invitation and the header art in this web site) is a manipulated photograph of Angela Madaras. It's a limited edition original artwork by Brigid Burns. Brigid takes photographs and paints over them to give a one of a kind portrait.

Letter from the Directors

Dear Donors and Volunteers,

We cannot thank you enough for everything you did to make the Metamorphosis Art Event a success. Whether you donated a service, item, cash or your time your contribution is priceless.

This first-of-a-kind event netted almost $15,000 – an impressive amount for any first time event, yet alone one in a hurricane-trampled town!

By offering your generosity you helped us cut expenses and guarantee the event’s success.  Net proceeds from this fundraiser will be shared by three organizations:

• Our National office will receive approximately $7500 to fund research to help find a cure for this life-altering chronic illness.

• As the sponsoring chapter, the Piedmont Chapter will receive 25%.

• The Winston-Triad Chapter will receive the remaining 25%, and will direct those funds to benefit patients in Western North Carolina.

A large portion will be used to set up a patient resource room, space for which has been graciously offered by the Women’s Resource Center.  Our goal is to provide them with a TV, plus a DVD/VCR to show programs relevant to their condition, and to create a lending library with multiple copies of important lupus publications along with free materials they can take and peruse at their leisure.

At this location, we will also provide contact information for local support groups and those providing peer counseling for newly diagnosed patients coming to grips with their diagnosis.

In a few months we will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Woman’s Resource Center. Check this web site regularly for updates and photos (coming soon) from the event.

Of course, your gifts to the Piedmont Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, Incorporated, (Tax ID# 56-1487119) are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Warm regards,

Catherine Smith & Angela Madaras
